Trần Phúc Duyên is an artist of the inner self, of romanticism, lyricism, and poetry. His works all aim for beauty and goodness from content to form. Throughout, there is a passionate love for his homeland.
‘In harmony III’ is one of Trần Phúc Duyên’s most successful lacquer paintings on the subject of women. His memories of people and his homeland seem to had lingered since the time he settled in France. Therefore, even though he created them several decades later, the images of people are always the images he had seen in the peaceful, gentle, dreamy past.
François Cheng, writer, poet, member of the French Academy wrote about him as follows: “Underneath the layers of paint, a deep soul whispers to us about the images of dreams.”
That is the dream of Trần Phúc Duyên’s homeland.
