When Mai Trung Thứ was living in Việt Nam, he created works on a number of medium, but since settling in France in 1937, he gave up oil, only working in silk. He decided to go all the way with silk by preserving the original Eastern medium and techniques, blending with European academic art; taking inspiration from the people and traditional Vietnamese culture to create a unique painting language bearing Mai Trung Thứ’s mark – elegant, distinctive.
In the auction titled “1925-2025 – Legends and Future”, Millon would like to introduce to collectors and art lovers a number of silk works created in different periods, from the 40s to the 70s (last century). The highlight of this group of works is the sense of Asian tenderness – his strongest and most profound language.
