In the program ‘Quintessence of Vietnamese Fine Arts’, Viet Art View hopes that audience will not only enjoy art with their eyes and ears, but also be able to touch, feel and connect directly with the traditional art medium of the nation. Therefore, we have commissioned the lacquer cards as a present for each audience.
In addition to carrying the lucky number that the Organizing Board wants to surprise the audience, each card also carries a profound message with all respect.
The lacquer card is crafted from traditional lacquer medium on a wooden base with an elaborate and meticulous process with 23 manual steps just for the base. Then comes the steps of drawing, gilding, and writing numbers in vermilion. The special thing to mention in each card is the numbers using the “naked gold” technique – a unique technique of artist Nguyễn Khang. When you hold the lacquer card, you can also interact by touching the surface of the card to directly feel the connection with the work Return with glory on stage.
From a little lacquer card, we and the artist unite to cherish and preserve the cultural heritage of the nation. And together we believe that: That unity will certainly ignite a great love for Vietnamese fine arts.
